Clifford Harris Giesking was born on August 11, 1941, at the Eldora, Iowa hospital. He was the son of Carl and Katie (Geiken) Giesking. Clifford attended Grundy Center High School, graduating with the class of 1959. On May 6, 1962, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Jo Pearson, in Denver, Colorado, at The Warren Methodist Church. Together they welcomed three children, who were the joy of their lives.

Clifford received his journeyman’s license in Colorado before returning to Iowa, where he became deeply involved in construction. He worked as a foreman for Harrison Homes and played a key role in building much of the north side of Marshalltown. Later, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own business by founding Giesking Construction. Through his dedication, craftsmanship, and honest work ethic, Clifford became a well-known and respected contractor throughout the area, building not only homes but also lasting relationships within the community. Clifford was an active member of the Lions Club and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Albion. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, boating, and mowing his yard, and he generously sponsored several local softball teams over the years. Above all, Clifford loved spending time with his family—especially traveling and making memories with his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn; his three children: Wendy (Mike) Cope of Beaman, Heidi (Jason) Weaver of Albion, and Jason (Becky) Giesking, also of Albion; his three grandchildren: Katie (Elena Sandry) Cope, Kayla (Cody) Rodemeyer, and Alec Giesking; and his great‑granddaughter, Ember Rodemeyer, as well as three step grandchildren Angie, Jenny, and Jimmy. He is also survived by his siblings: Clarene Schipper of Ackley, Harriet Schares of Denver, and Leann Espe of Decorah; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Katie; and his brother Wendell.
