Clyde Newlon, 92, formerly of 104 Vine Street, Montour, died Monday morning, April 2nd, at the Grandview Heights Care Center while in their care and of the Iowa River Hospice. Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Clyde Gerald Newlon on January 29th, 1915, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was the son of Milton and Pearl Newlon. He graduated from high school in Cuyahoga Falls and served our country proudly in the United States Army Medic Corps. On September 18th, 1964, he was united to marriage to Rose Grabenbauer Stanton at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Tama. Clyde was a cook at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and retired from Lennox Industries. He enjoyed flea markets, fishing, bowling, playing poker and bingo and conversation with his friends. Surviving are his children: Jackie Wallace, Jerry (Mary) Stanton, Ed (Betty) Stanton, Donna (Allan) Hoing and Linda (Jerry) Thiessen, 20 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his wife Rose, his parents, sister Eva Myers, son Frank Bud Stanton, four grandchildren: Ron Stanton, Donald Wallace, Lana Weatherly and Tammy Hoing.
