Clydene Kroeger Bern, 76, of Lincoln, died Thursday, January 8th, at the Briarcliff Nursing and Rehab Center in McAllen, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14th, at the Salem Church of Lincoln with Pastor Wade Ditty officatiing. She will be laid to rest in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Gladbrook. Immediately following, all are invited to the church hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Memorials may be directed to the Salem Church of Lincoln or the Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Salem Church in Lincoln. Born Wynama Clydene Carter on August 29th, 1932, in Stephenville, Texas, she was the daughter of Clyde and Annie Belle (Trantham) Carter. She attended school in Texas until 8th grade when they moved to Iowa. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On April 30th, 1950, she was united in marriage to O. Lynn Kroeger at the Little Brown Church. They farmed 1 miles west of Lincoln and raised four children. Mr. Kroeger preceded her in death and on August 29th, 2004, she was married to Elmer Bern. They too made Lincoln their home where she was a member of the Salem Church, AMVETS Auxiliary (serving as past State of Iowa President) and enjoyed volunteering at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda (Mark) Goos of Gladbrook, Nancy (Ron) Boldt of Dysart, Debbie (David) McGowan on the farm, and Charles (Connie) Kroeger of State Center, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brother J. A. Carter and half/sisters Wanda and Wilma all in Texas, Elmers family: Caroline (Jerry) Riley of St. Charles, IL, Judy (Darryl) Widmayer of Gladbrook, Gary (Joyce) Bern of Garwin, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of friends In death she has rejoined her parents, husband O. Lynn Kroeger, brother Hubert Ray, step-father Frank Sistern and step-mothers, Lilly and Georgia Carter.
