Coda Long

Coda Aldine Long, 101, formerly of Whitten, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown.Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside services will take place on Wednesday, October 13 at 3:00 P.M. at the Benson Cemetery, rural Whitten. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Coda and her family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234 Coda was born on February 12, 1920 on the homestead in Whitten to parents Clarence Raymond “Bud” and Burnice Madeline (Thatcher) Long. She graduated from the Whitten High School in 1937 and then attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for one year. Coda was gifted in playing the piano and violin. She is remembered by several nieces and nephews: Cyndy, Dwight, Doug, Dana, Denise, Diane, David, Troy and Tommy. In death, she is reunited with her parents, her siblings: Raymond, Thomas, and Herbert, and her nephew, David Kent.
