She was raised on a farm near Vining, Iowa and attended the Vining Independent School and Toledo High School. She was united in marriage to Rex Hoskey on June 2, 1957. They lived on a farm northeast of Toledo and raised crops, beef cattle and hogs for many years. Coleen was an excellent gardener and always had a big garden, harvesting and canning almost everything she grew. She was a superb cook and baker, famously known for her mouthwatering sour cream chocolate cake. Coleen also loved to plant trees and shrubs, planting nearly 300 on the farm during her lifetime. She loved to sing, participating in church choirs and also the Women’s Farm Bureau Chorus. Coleen’s greatest joy was her family. She found unmeasurable pride in her children, fourteen grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren and would waste no opportunity to tell even complete strangers how many babies she has held. Coleen long ago committed her life to Jesus Christ and was born again into His Kingdom. She lived her faith for her family and friends to see and faithfully read her Bible daily and pursued growing in her faith.  Coleen is survived by her husband, Rex; five children: Mary (Pete) Lyon of Toledo, Dawn Hoskey of Toledo, Martin (Marcia) Hoskey of Toledo, Joni (Jeff) Lyman of Pekin, Illinois and Christopher (Julie) Hoskey of Toledo. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and two sisters; Marlene Thiessen and Jean Richards.
