Colleen Jennings

Colleen Jennings, 81, of Marshalltown, died early Saturday morning, April 17th, at the Villa del Sol while in their loving care and of her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21st, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Jech of the New Hope Christian Church officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Timber Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on February 6th, 1929, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Irene (Scheiding) Powers. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1947. On her birthday, February 6th, 1948, she was united in marriage to W. Jack Jennings in Marshalltown. They made rural Marshalltown their home all of their married lives. She was a lecturer for Weight Watchers and traveled the state of Iowa encouraging others on her success of weight loss and was a resident assistant at the Marshall County Care Facility for nearly 10 years. Colleen enjoyed camping, fishing, crafts, painting and quilting and did many inspirational and humorous sermonettes at mission conferences. She treasured her family who are all comforted at this time knowing she is in the presence of God and rejoined with her husband, Jack. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jack(Deb)Jennings of Houston, Texas, Tim(Barb) Jennings, and Rex(Kris) Jennings all of Marshalltown; her grandchildren, Darci, Jeff, Stacy, Austin, Shane, Ashley, and Ryan; great-grandchild, Hope; her brothers Jerry (Louise) Powers and John (Carla) Powers all of Marshalltown and also nieces, nephews, and cousins. In death, she rejoined her parents and husband, Jack who died on July 12th, 2009.
