Connie Louise Beard

The warm and beautiful soul of 72 year old Connie Beard, of Marshalltown, was called to her heavenly home on the morning of Friday, May 26th.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 2nd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with John Whitehead officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Born on January 30th, 1951, in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lue and Eva (Sutter) Foshe. She received her education in the area of her birth. While in high school, she met this handsome young man, Robert Beard, at the King’s Food Host. The couple was united in marriage on May 20th, 1972, in Ames and moved to Marshalltown when he was transferred with Sears. Connie was employed at Walgreen’s Restaurant at the Marshalltown Mall and later enjoyed a colorful and fulfilling career in real estate. She was employed at ERA Concept 3, Coldwell-Banker and retired from Premier Real Estate.

Connie loved the sunshine and flowers, seeing people and treasured her family. Her life included Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, being a den mother for Cub Scouts, Special Olympics and had developed many friends as part of a recent bible study. No relationship in her life concluded- upon meeting her she became a lifelong friend.

She was so proud of her two sons that now cherish her memory: Robbie Beard of Marshalltown and Nicholas Beard (Debra Moore) of Marshalltown; granddaughter Ajna and brother Earnie Foshe of Ames as well as the Beard family and many friends.

In death, Connie rejoined her beloved Bob, her parents, sister, Marv and sister-in-law Lyn.
