Connie (Mrs. Bernie) Bernard, 52, of Union, died Sunday, September 7th, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11th, at the Union Community Church with Rev. Rick Schill officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church in Union. Private family interment rites will be in the Union Cemetery. Born Connie Elaine Patterson on February 15th, 1956, she was the daughter of Clarence and Lula Jane (Vestal) Patterson. She graduated from the Eldora High Schools Class of 1974 and attended the Marshalltown Community Colleges School of Nursing, receiving her LPN Degree. For many years, she worked at Eldora and Marshalltown in nursing and for the past nine years was employed as a Veterinarians Assistant in Union. On April 2, 1977, she was united in marriage to Bernie Bernard in Union. They have made Union their home all of their married lives. Connie was active in the Union Community and was a member of the Community Church. She enjoyed camping at Guttenberg, cooking and baking, liked animals (many times adopting them to her home) and treasured her family- especially the grandkids. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 31 years, Bernie, her children: Nathan (Toni) of Union and their children Everett and Ian; Nydia (Richard) Teckenburg of New Providence and their children Briana, Skye and Shaylyn, her sisters and brother: Linda (John) Mormon of Perry, Patsy Tallman of Waukee and Clarence Patterson II (Connie) of Iowa Falls, mother-in-law Jeanne Bernard of Union, several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, father-in-law Everett and brother-in-law Wayne Tallman.
