Corene Lee Davis

Corene Lee Davis, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away Monday morning, December 21, 2020, at Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare under the care of Hospice Compassus. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be given and a private family graveside service will be held Monday, December 28th at the Riverside Cemetery. No public visitation is planned. A Celebration of Life Service will be planned and announced next year. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted in her and her family’s care. Born on September 9, 1946 in Traer, IA, Corene was the daughter of Lowell and Georgia (Weisert) Van Gorp. She grew up in the area of her birth and attended the public schools. She had been employed at Mid Iowa Community Action, the Iowa Veterans Home and Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare Center. She enjoyed her dogs, going to garage sales, knitting and crafting. and figuring out how to send Facebook messages to loved ones. Corene will be forever remembered as a selfless and very giving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be deeply missed. Survivors include her children: John Davis, Jim Davis, Brian Davis, Don Davis Tammy Harris Barb Morris and Amy Toral; 17 grandchildren: Ashley, Monica, Brandon, Amanda, Brittany, Renetta, Steven, Doug, David, Daniel, Breauna, Michael, Alexis, Jerry, Trent, Lucas and Sofia; 21 great grandchildren; her siblings: sister, Marilyn Werner and Max and Curt Van Gorp. In eternal life, Corene has been reunited with her father, her mother and her husband, Larry Stallwood.
