We were brought here today to celebrate the life of Corey Tymon Bennamon, son of Colette Fleming, born on December 23, 1976, in Rock island, Illinois. As a son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, grandson, and friend, he filled many roles and many hearts with love and laughter. Since day one he has always managed to make everyone smile and fills a room with his contagious laugh. As a kid, Corey enjoyed basketball and participated in Boy Scouts. He got to enjoy time at Camp Abe Lincoln with his sister. Growing up Corey was a strong, outspoken, and committed person. He graduated from Davenport North High School. After school, he worked a couple different jobs and quickly developed a strong work ethic. He was a caring and compassionate person. His last job he had, he got to enjoy working with the elderly doing in home care. Corey eventually took up some Tae Kwon Do lessons for fun. He always had a love for music and favored Michael Jackson. He and his siblings would often get caught moonwalking down the street. Cooking was one of his specialties. One of his famous dishes was his spaghetti and if you have had it, you know what I am talking about. Corey was baptized on April 20, 2007, at the House of Fire Ministries. Corey recently moved from Davenport to Marshalltown to be around family. It is a blessing to have been allowed time with a kind and loving soul. We can all take comfort in knowing he was surrounded by family and got to enjoy everything he loved. Corey is survived by his mom, Colette Fleming and step-dad, Johnny Grady; sister, LaVonna Bennamon and brother-in-law, Eric Mayes; brother, Kerry Fleming; sister-in-law, Shyanne Fleming; nephews: Keegen and Paiden Jones; nieces: Kylin Jones and Desirae Meyer; brother, Jerel Fleming; sister-in-law, Ashley Kampus; nieces Areiona Reyna-Fleming and Amiah Stubblefield; nephew, Kaihden Stubblefield; sister, Chandra Fleming; brother-in-law, Alvaro Hernandez; nephew, Javarion Thompson; and niece, Cheyann McKinney.
