Corrine Gettler, 81, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center.Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a future date. Memorials may be directed to the hospice of the donors choice or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022. She was the daughter of Newton and Grace (Horner) Baker. She graduated from Panora High School in 1945. In 1947, at age 18, Corrine married Vernon Gettler. The couple moved to Woodward, Iowa, where they stayed for 25 years. They spent weekends at their cabin on Lake of the Ozarks and liked it so much that they moved there in 1974.Corrine worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years- 20 years at Woodward State Hospital and Woodward-Granger Schools, and then 19 years in Missouri as an office manager at Modern Sanitation. Corrine and Vernon retired in 1993. Vernon passed away in 1998. Corrine returned to Marshalltown, living on the north side of town until recently moving into The Embers.Corrine will be missed by her son, Greg Gettler, of Omaha, Nebraska; and her 6 grandchildren, Lance, Kelley, Jennifer, Christopher, Ryan, and Dawn.In death, she has rejoined her husband, Vernon Gettler.
