Craig Brodie

Craig Luther Brodie, 75, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed on September 13, 2026, in the care of Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

Craig was born on May 28, 1951, in Athens, Greece, and was adopted by Andrew Nathaniel and Irene Annie (Gipson) Brodie of Nevada, Iowa. He grew up farming with his parents outside of Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. He had a lifelong love of farm work and also held a variety of local and regional truck-driving jobs throughout his life. In his later years, Craig enjoyed living at the historic Tallcorn Towers in downtown Marshalltown and found community and faith at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown.

Craig is survived by his sons, both of whom were raised in Ames, Iowa: Justin Brodie (Amanda) of Richland, Missouri, with granddaughters Hope and Brecklynn Brodie; and Andrew (Andy) Brodie (Anna Wickes Brodie) of Brooklyn, New York, with grandson Oscar Brodie and granddaughter Julia Estelle (Esti) Brodie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Irene Brodie.

Craig will be remembered by his family and by his community at New Hope Christian Church, which will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony Thursday, September 17 at 10:00am.
