Craig Danner

Craig Scott Danner, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Craig was born on November 21, 1944 in Tama, Iowa, he is the son of Morris “Mort” Ralph Danner and Verna (Scott) Funke. After graduating from Tama High School in 1964, Craig honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the army, he attended Drake University. Craig lived in Missouri and Massachusetts before settling back in the Midwest in Marshalltown, Iowa.

After meeting the love of his life, Ann Sawyer, they were united in marriage on January 7, 1969 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, Iowa. Craig was incredibly handy, a true “Jack of all trades,” he worked in maintenance in several locations and owned and operated his own rental property business. He enjoyed being outdoors: camping, hunting coyote and fishing, especially catfish and bass. He was a member of the Bass Club and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Physical activity and sports were also a large part of Craig’s life. He coached little league baseball and football, played slow-pitch softball, loved bowling and as a bodybuilder and fitness guru, won Mr. Iowa Bodybuilding.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 54 years, Ann Danner; his children: Scott Danner, Nathan Lee (Carissa) Danner and his precious fur babies Hannah, Maggie and Sam; grandchildren: Skylar Matson, Tristin Danner, Athenea Danner, Teagan Danner and Graycen Danner; great-grandchildren: Monroe Danner, Marley Danner, Ryder Danner and Harley Danner; his sister, LeeAnne Rosenquist; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Mort and Verna; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Howard and Betty Sawyer and Evelyn and Arnold Gummert; his grandparents Orin and Erna Scott, and his brother-in-law, Ross Rosenquist.
