Craig Eurom

October 6, 1958 — June 8, 2023

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a ride!'" - Unknown

Craig Robert Eurom, 64, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away June 8, 2023 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was truly one-of-a-kind. With a playful and silly nature, an affinity for speed and riding his Harleys, a competitive spirit, a love for camping, fishing, flowers, and being the life of the party, he touched the lives of many, despite enduring significant health issues and personal loss.

Craig served his country as a Marine. As a military veteran, His commitment and sacrifice for bravely dedicating his time to defending the values of the United States of America will forever be remembered and respected.

The eldest of 5 children, Craig Robert Eurom was born on October 6, 1958, in Iowa to Robert “Bob” Eurom and Diane Kay (Parrish).  Craig was raised, along with his siblings: Justina (Tina), Melissa (Lisa), Terry Paul and Rodney, by his mother Diane and bonus Dad, Dale Franksain. As a boy, Craig was a natural charmer and a little mischievous. Most would agree that he carried those signature traits throughout his life. Those mischievous moments lead to his mother, Diane, calling him by his first and middle names together, frequently; “CRAIG ROBERT”. Eventually a nickname was formed, Craiger.

Always up for an adventure, Craig called many states and cities home over his lifetime until eventually deciding to put down roots in Iowa again. On July 31, 2021, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Katherine “Kathy” Luethje. The shared many adventures. Together, Craig and Kathy, have two fur babies, Roxy and Duke. These fur babies held a special place in his heart. He showered them with affection and care.

Craig Robert Eurom (Craiger)'s love for hot rod cars and anything fast as was evident in his passion for riding the Harley Davidson motorcycles, he had throughout his life. The wind against his face and the rumble of the engine brought him a sense of freedom and exhilaration that was unmatched. Whether cruising down the open road or gathering with fellow riders like his favorite uncles Tom and Les, his cousin Stanley, and/or brother Rodney, he embraced the camaraderie and shared his love for the open throttle. Ever the show off, he was known to pop a wheely or two on his Harley and even burn rubber in his Nova on occasion.

Nature provided solace and tranquility to Craig, who found peace in camping, fishing, and the beauty of flowers. Surrounded by the serenity these activities brought allowed him to find respite from his challenges. Throughout his life, Craiger faced significant health issues and experienced profound loss. Yet, he demonstrated remarkable resilience.

Craiger undeniably enjoyed being the life of the party, the center of attention in any gathering. His charm and vibrant personality brought joy and laughter to those who knew him. Whether through his amusing stories, dance moves, or singing along to songs he was listening to, especially Bob Segar. These moments have given us the gift of lasting memories.
