Craig Keefer

Craig Keefer, 67, of Albion, Iowa, passed away on Christmas morning, 2020, surrounded by his wife and children at MercyOne Medical Center. At this time, cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. Memorials in Craig’s name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Craig Lynn Keefer was born November 1, 1953 to Russell and Ivaree (Cotter) Keefer in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the oldest of two children. He attended Marshalltown High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. On January 24, 1984, he was united in marriage to Lois Brown at the Albion United Methodist Church. The two moved to Albion and began a family together raising their children Deanna and Russell. He worked for a number of years as a mechanic on cars at Ken Wise and Jensen Ford in Marshalltown. He also worked for Diamond Vogel as a paint sprayer tech, where he would eventually retire from. Craig was a member of a number of street rod associations including the ISRA, MSRA and NSRA. He loved his classic cars. He was a member of the Albion United Methodist Church and helped as a scout master for a number of years. Craig was a very hands-on person. He enjoyed working with a number of cars and other projects. He built his own 1930 Model A Coupe which he and Lois would drive around. He enjoyed camping trips with his family, racing, driving his vintage cars, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years Lois Keefer; his children, Deanna (Robert) Sanders and Russell (Ashley) Keefer; his grandchildren, Barry Ecklor, Landon Keefer, Cash Keefer and baby Emory Keefer on the way; his sister, Karen (Ryan) Plut; and his fur baby Joy. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Ivaree Keefer.
