Craig was born on December 6, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents John and Mary (Hodson) Kerr. He graduated from Marshalltown High School. On January 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis Hibbs. They made their home in Laurel, Iowa, where they enjoyed the farm life and raised their two children. In addition to the time and dedication Craig gave to keeping the three farms, he also worked at Dunham Busch for over 28 years.

Craig loved everything about farming: especially tractors (John Deere only!) and animals. The only thing he enjoyed more than his time spent with chickens, ducks, guineas, goats and his dogs were the many moments he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He loved showing them around the farm, taking them on tractor rides and just slowing down and living in the moment. Craig was a jokester and loved talking to people. He was truly a friend to everyone.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis; his two children: Rusty (Kathy) Kerr of Laurel, IA and Jody Kerr (Trevor Ryan) of Canberra, Australia; his three grandchildren: Ben Kerr, Chelsea Kerr and Jacob Ryan; three great-grandchildren: Bently Kerr, Colt Bornheim and Dalaney Bornheim; his sister-in-law Hazel Kerr and several nieces and nephews.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary, his siblings and his beloved dog, Ralph.
