Craig A. Thomas, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Craig Alan Thomas was born on December 18, 1955, in Independence, the son of Donald and Gretta (Neal) Thomas. He graduated from East Buchanan High School. Craig went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
Craig enjoyed fishing, camping, and weekends on the houseboat with his family. He loved his time spent with his children and grandchildren. Recently, Craig started creating artwork. Craig enjoyed watching sports – his favorite teams to cheer on were the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julie; his granddaughters: Mandee and Ava; and nephew, Brian Thomas. Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Craig Thomas II (Suzanne) of Fayette, Uriah (Cori) Thomas of Brandon, and Joshua (Andrea) Thomas of Independence; grandchildren: Mercedes, Jacklynn, Danielle, Hayleigh, Hunter, Annika, Kaylin, Ronnie, William, Keyra, Addison, Alivia, Abigayle, Abel, Gracelyn; and great-grandchildren: Boston, Lylah, Lukas, Adalynn, Raelynn, and baby boy Anderson on the way. He is also survived by his siblings: Tracy (Christine) Thomas, David (Tammy) Thomas, and Lori (Jeff) Brimeyer.
