Curtis W. Moneyhun, 91, of the Marshalltown Iowa Veterans Home since 2005 died Thursday, May 12, 2011.Private services will be held at a later. Memorial may be directed to the family. (641) 844-1234.Born on March 4, 1920, in Coleman, Texas, he was the son of Emmit and Mary (Hubbard) Moneyhun. Curtis enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served his country honorably in WWII for three years until he was discharged in 1945. After the military, Curtis worked in the oil fields in Bakersfield, California and then moved to Alaska. He worked in Alaska for twenty two years hauling dirt to make roads leading to the oil fields. He enjoyed fishing with his sons and cooking with his daughter. He loved all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his great-great-grandchild.He is survived by his children: Curtis Moneyhun of Bollingbrook, IL, Jeanette Rounsavall of San Antonio, TX, Penny Moneyhun of Des Moines, IA, Warren Moneyhun of Filer, ID, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Mary Glass.He is preceded in death by his Emmit Moneyhun, his parents, his brother Roy Moneyhun, and a sister Gladys Miller.
