Cyndy Sue Long was born on August 29, 1952, the daughter of H. Dwight Long Sr. and Patricia (Gersdorf) Long. As a young girl, Cyndy was always helping her mother with the household chores and took over those duties when her mother went back to working full time.

Cyndy was a good athlete. In high school, she was a good softball player but an even better basketball player. In 1968, as a 15 year-old sophomore, Cyndy scored 44 points to help Union-Whitten win the state championship! Later in life, Cyndy moved with younger brother, Doug to Costa Mesa, California, where her older brother, Dwight was residing. She and her brothers shared many good times, or as Cyndy would say, “Big Fun”. After over 10 years in California, Doug and Dwight moved back to Iowa to open a bar and grill in Eldora. After a couple years of traveling, Cyndy, moved back to Iowa and joined her brothers, helping in the business.

Most of her adult life, Cyndy suffered from depression. This greatly affected her quality of life. But Cyndy’s Faith, never wavered, and her Trust in the Lord was resolute. She has finally found Peace.

Cyndy is survived by her brother, Dwight Jr. (Melanie) and nephew, Bryce Long. She was preceded in death by brother, Doug and her parents, H Dwight Sr. and Pat.

Many, many thanks to all the staff at Southridge Specialty Care, along with their Hospice Care. God only knows what we would do without these dedicated people.
