Cynthia Trost grew up in rural Kansas as the youngest daughter of Alma and Will Trost. As 1 of 9 siblings she learned to get what she wanted at an early age. She was a woman of determination. She was also certain of her goals. When she set her mind on doing something, she made sure someone got it done. She never missed a daily devotion. Each Sunday she attended worship service with her husband Bill beside her, even when they were traveling the country. For 63 years she was the instigation for her husband, William Roger Ormston, to achieve his goals. Now they are together again, inseparable at last. Her years as the assistant to the Marshalltown Bobcat High School Band Director were some of her fondest work memories, outside of being a Mom to her two sons, Billy and Rodney. Bill and Cindy’s shared competitive spirit made them avid card players who regularly spent time with family and friends around a card table. You might think that Bill’s math degree made him a card shark, but he graciously lost many a hand to those he loved, including many to Cindy. They never turned down a card game and together she taught many people the rules of many new card games. When Bill’s employer made organized recreation mandatory, Cindy quickly suggested square dancing. They became avid Square and Round Dancers, in spite of her husband’s initial dislike of dancing. They grew to love the company and people whom they met at Square Dances across the Midwest. They realized that dancing gave them a new community of people to help and communicate with. The members of their church, dancing friends, and members of the card playing community will miss her smile. Left to cherish her memory are son Dr. Bill of Meridian, TX; and two daughter-in-laws; Amy Hayek of Meridian, Tx and Tracy Ormston of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Riley, Philip and Jessica Ormston, step-grandson Robert Dale; siblings: DD Trost, Evelyn Woolston and Willo Harris, many nieces and nephews and countless former students and band members. In death, Cynthia rejoined husband Bill, her parents, son Rodney, sisters Lola, Ruth, and brothers Melvin, John, and Keith.
