Cindy Thomas, 70, of Marshalltown gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, March 8th, at her home in Marshalltown. She was able to rejoin her beloved husband Ron who died 20 years ago. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13th, at the 1st United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Luttrell officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Cynthia Ann Grimes on May 24th, 1944, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Orville and Irene (Peterson) Grimes. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1962 and then attended UNI. On August 14th, 1965, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ron Thomas, at the 1st United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was first employed with Fisher Controls and most recently Wal-Mart and the place she dearly loved, Anson Elementary. Cindy was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church and volunteered for the MMSC and Martha Ellen Tye Theatre. She enjoyed going to the movies every week with her sister-in-law Shirley Thomas and trips with her brother Geoffrey and his wife Vicki. Most of all she treasured her family (especially her grandchildren) and time with the Anson Oldies. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Lori (Larry) Stabenow of Liscomb, Heather Pfaff (Rick Richardson) of Toledo, Ohio and Carrie (Greg) Godfrey of Cedar Rapids, her grandchildren- Ashley (William) Law, Allyson Stabenow, Damien Pfaff, Christian Pfaff, Cameron Pfaff and Aaron Thomas, her brother Geoffrey (Vicki) Grimes of Waterloo and brother-in-law Steve (Shirley) Thomas of Marshalltown as well as other family and friends. In death, Cindy rejoined her beloved Ron and her parents.
