Cyril E. Hoover

Cyril Hoover, age 88, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on the morning of July 29, 2025 at State Center Specialty Care surrounded by his family.

Cyril Eugene Hoover was born May 5, 1937 in New Sharon, Iowa. He was the son of Zola Ball (Hoover). He was raised by his grandparents, Elsie and Eber Hoover in New Sharon and then in his younger years to Newton, Iowa along with his family where he attended school.

On March 31, 1960, Cyril married the love of his life, Lillian Jean Pugh in Muscatine, Iowa. They began married life in Lovilla, Iowa where Lillian was born and raised. From there they moved to State Center, Iowa and began raising a family of their own having four daughters, Merri Rose, Colleen, Melissa, and Rosie. He managed and owned his own business over many years, H & L Pallets outside of Melbourne, Iowa along Highway 330. He would eventually retire and Cyril and Lillian remained happily married until the time of her passing in 2016.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Colleen Ward and Melissa Hoover; grandchildren, Errick Hoover and Jackie (Jeremy) Hoover-Diggins; siblings, Delores (Gerald) Halloway, Sandy (Fred) Gervers and Marilyn Hallett; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his daughters, Merri Rose Hoover and Rosie Hoover; mother Zola Ball; his siblings, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
