Dale Dent

Dale R. Dent, 88, of State Center, Iowa and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of November 25, 2023 at Unity Point Health Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo with his family at his side.

Services for Dale will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Dale Dent was born on August 1, 1935 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Anna Dent (Grove). Dale attended school in Marshalltown and at the age of 17 he enlisted in the Unites States Marines during the Korean War. After serving his time in the marines he was honorably discharged and then drafted into the United States Army.

On July 30, 1960, Dale was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis Mae Curry. From this union three children were born, Dale Dent, Anna Dent, and LeRoy Dent. Dale worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for many years in maintenance and as a mechanic on their vehicles. He later retired after many years of service to the State of Iowa and the Department of Transportation.

In his younger years, Dale was a member of ABATE motorcycle club. He enjoyed going on motorcycle rides on his Harley Davidson, being outdoors so that he could go hunting and fishing, watching and reading old westerns and overall lending a hand to anyone that was in need.

He is survived by his children, Dale Dent and Anna Dent; his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Billie) Dent, LeRoy D Dent, and Kristie Ramsey; his great-grandchildren, Amelia, Violet, Isabella, Donovan, Dakota and LeRoy; his siblings, Robert Dent and Roger Dent; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Dent; his son, LeRoy Dent; his parents, his siblings Marie Hendrickson and Marvel Bechtel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
