Dale Clark Egger, 81, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Iowa River Hospice House surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Hope United Methodist Church (2203 S 3rd Ave, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A gathering will take place prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. also at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hope United Methodist Church or Iowa River Hospice. Dale was born on August 12, 1932 in rural Garwin, the son of Charles H. Egger and Keitha (Dobson) Egger. He attended The Brat Country School, Carlton Township, in Tama County through the eighth grade and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1950. Dale honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955. Dale married Maradean Yetley on January 2, 1955 at the Gladbrook Chapel Church in Rural Gladbrook, IA. Dale and Maradean farmed in rural Garwin through 1965. Beginning in 1966 Dale and his brother Wendell owned and operated the Egger Brothers DX on the corner of 1st and State St. in Marshalltown. After Wendell retired, Dale operated the business as Eggers Service Center through 1977. In 1978 Dale and Maradean moved to Texas where he worked as an auto mechanic. After 12 years in Texas they returned to the Marshalltown area where he finished out his working career with Ken Wise and retired in 1994. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking. He always left his signature, a hidden penny with the year corresponding to the date the item was built. Dale also loved to attend antique shows and flea markets. Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Maradean Egger; his two sons: Keith Egger of Marshalltown IA; Reed (Elery) Egger of Baxter IA; daughter, Kayle (Chris) Debrecht of Plano, TX; and grandchildren: Kristina, Austin, Dakota, and Sebra In death Dale rejoins his parents, and brother, C. Wendell Egger.
