Dale Morrison Fouch, Jr. age 85, of Eldora and formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, 10th, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while in their care, his family and hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 14th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to his family. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with military honors by the Combined American Legion and VFW Honor Guard in the Marshalltown Area. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com.
Born on New Year’s Day of 1941, he was the eldest child born to Dale Morrison and Deloris Ione (Menter) Fouch, Sr. He graduated from the LeGrand High School’s class of 1959.
On December 17th, 1961, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Thursby in Rhodes, Iowa. To this union two sons were born- David and Mark.
Dale served our country honorably in the United States Navy Seabees from 1960 to 1962 working in the construction division doing underwater welding. He returned to his hometown and worked at Fisher Controls for 36 years as a welder as well as teaching welding for various colleges and businesses. He received the “Rookie Teacher of the Year” and “Educator of the Year” at Marshalltown Community College. He was a member of the UAW, the Street Rod Association and shared that love by working on old cars, Iowa football season ticket holder for many years, dancing to the group PASSION and traveling all over. He especially enjoyed watching the grandkids grow up.
In 2024, Dale was awarded the Quilt of Valor and in 2025, he was awarded the National Distinguished Service Award.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David (Angie) Fouch of Laurel and Mark (Dawn) Fouch of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren Joel and Taylor Fouch; great grandson Landon Fouch, granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Fouch and children Rachel, Jeffrey, Jordyn and Jonathan Fouch; his brother Danny, and several nieces and nephews. He was also blessed in his life by gaining the love companionship of 14 years with Diana Castell. He is survived by Diana’s children Laura, George, Patrick and Lynn as well as Diana’s grandchildren Ariell, Sara, Alex, Austin, Aspen, Madison, Paige and Jenna and great-grandchildren Abagail, River, Adler, Gracelyn and Kollyns.
In death, Dale rejoined his parents, his wife Kathleen, siblings Robert, Terry, Wayne, James and Patricia and grandson, Andrew “A.J.” Fouch.
