October 12, 1932 — December 6, 2018

Dale Gibbs, age 86, of Conrad, passed away Thursday, December 6th, at the Iowa Veterans Home where he has resided since August of 2008.           Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 10th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to dress casual to honor Dale’s life. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Benson Cemetery at Whitten at a later date. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on October 12th, 1932, on the family farm in rural Grundy County, he was one of three sons born to Clinton Robert and Irene Edna (Botts) Gibbs. He received his education in the New Providence High School.           Dale served our country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from October of 1952 to September of 1954. Upon return to his home, he worked at Fisher Controls and later ACCO Seeds until becoming employed at Lennox as a press operator. He retired from Lennox after 28 years of faithful service.           On July 3rd, 1955, he was united in marriage to Charlene Mitchell at the Whitten Community Church. They made their home in Conrad all of their married lives. Dale was a member of the Conrad American Legion and enjoyed driving Rex Lawler’s Farmall M tractor and fishing.           Left to cherish his memory are his children- Greg Gibbs of Conrad, Connie (Mike) Woosley of Conrad and Janiece “Jan” (Doug) Doe of Melbourne; his grandchildren-Christopher (Jessica) Gibbs, Jeff (Brianna) Gibbs, Amanda (Anthony) Jahr, Chad Gibbs, Heather Gibbs (Jesse King), Toni Gibbs, Scott (Lisa) Woosley, Casey (Chris) Eis, Nathan Doe and Ryan Doe; great-grandchildren- Jade Pierre, Keaton Woosley, Logan Woosley, Garrett Woosley, Holden Woosley, Jaxon Eis, Ady Woosley, Keira Eis, Annie Gibbs, CJ Gibbs and James Gibbs; his brother Donald Gibbs of Eldora, brother –in-law Arlyn Mitchell of Marshalltown, sister-in-law Nancy Mitchell of Conrad and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.            In death, Dale rejoined his beloved Charlene, his parents, grandson Joseph Woosley, great-granddaughters Averi Eis and Evelyn Ann Gibbs, brother Robert Gibbs, sisters-in-law Berniece Mitchell and Mary Ellen Gibbs and brother-in-law Larry Mitchell.
