Dale Hauser, 79, of the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, formerly of Whitten and Conrad, died Saturday night, January 20th, at the Oakview Nursing Home. His death came peacefully at 10:00 p.m. with his family at his side. His family expresses their sincere appreciation to his nursing home family at Oakview, the Iowa River Hospice and many family and friends for their care in this last journey. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24th at the New Hope Christian Church with Pastors Kerry Jech, Ron Jones and retired Pastor Helmer Peterson formerly of the Liscomb Church of Christ officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hauser Cemetery near Whitten with a time of fellowship following at the Whitten Community Church. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. Masonic service beginning the evening. A memorial fund is being established. Born on March 18th, 1927, at home near Whitten, Hardin County, Iowa, he was the son of Walter E. and Gladys Marie (Reece) Hauser. He received his education in the Whitten Consolidated Schools and graduated with the honor of Salutatorian with the Class of 1944. On December 29th, 1945, he married his childhood sweetheart, Clara Ann Koch. They celebrated 61 treasured years together this past December. In 1948, Dale was diagnosed at Iowa University Hospital and Chicago Memorial Hospital with multiple sclerosis. In 1955, Dale left the family farm to attend AIB in Des Moines under the Rehabilitation program. He was employed by Gervich and Son in Marshalltown for six months following. He was active in sales with Funks G Seed Corn Company, Vigortone Feeds, Southwestern Petroleum and Amway. Despite his disability, Dales philosophy of life was to have a positive attitude, faith in the Lord, and live life day to day. Dale was kind, courteous and appreciated anything anyone did for him. He loved the Lord, his wife and family and they loved him. He loved life in general. Dale was a member of the Whitten Community Church, attended the New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown and especially appreciated the visits by the New Hope Shut-in Ministry and enjoyed the activities of the ALIVE with New Hope- a 60 yr. + Christian group. He was a charter member of both the Central Iowa Helping Hands (club for the disabled) and the Marshalltown Area Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. He was Past Master of the Alhambra Masonic Lodge AF and AM, Union, Iowa. On May 4th, 2001, Dale became a member of the Oakview Nursing Home family in Conrad. He has since called it his home and has appreciated all of the loving care shown to him by the staff. Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 61 years, Ann, son Lynn (Rosemary) and daughter Elaine (Rick) Peterson all of Marshalltown, five grandchildren: Michael, Mark, David Hauser, Rick Peterson, Jr. and Elizabeth Peterson, six great-grandchildren Austin, Aaron, Cole, Londyn, Lilliana Hauser and Tyler Peterson, his brother Donald D. Hauser of Unuion and sister-in-law R. Arlene Callawy of Whitten, one niece, ten nephews and a multitude of relatives and friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and sister Donna Mae Barnard.
