Dale Holmes

Dale Holmes, 82, of Montour, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at MMSC.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18th, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. He was the son of Leo and Ruby Myrle (Beck) Holmes. He was educated in the area of his birth. On June 27, 1953, Dale married Patricia Floyd in Racine, Wisconsin. The couple lived in Montour their entire married lives. Dale worked for Farm Service in Toledo as a petroleum salesman for 37-1/2 years. He was a member of PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens), Promise Keepers, and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, gardening, camping, and fishing with his granddaughter, Shannon. Dale will be missed by his wife of over 56 years, Pat, of Montour; his 4 children, Scott (Gayla) Holmes of Cross Timbers, MO, Robin (Steve) Mahnke of Altoona, Stacey (Jason) Groff of Clive, and Kelly Holmes of Kansas City, MO; his granddaughter, Shannon Lea (Chris) Chase of DeSoto, IA; his great-grandson, Alexander Chase of DeSoto, IA; his brother, Arlo (Marge) Holmes of Marshalltown; and his brother-in-law, Eugene Baker of Gilbert, IA. In death, he has rejoined his parents and his sister, Myrna Baker.
