Dale L Mcgrew

Dale McGrew, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown due to cancer.   Funeral services for Dale will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dale and his family.   Dale McGrew was born on October 5, 1950. He was born and raised on a farm west of Gilman, Iowa. Dale moved to Marshalltown when he was 18 to attend Marshalltown Community College. He was employed by Lennox Industries from April 7, 1970 until he retired, approximately 41 years later on February 1, 2011. Dale was a very proud committed member of the UAW-Local 893 and served as a chairman of the Election Committee from the late 1980’s until retirement in 2011. He liked to do different kinds of woodworking, golfing, gardening food and flowers. Dale loved the Baltimore “Indianapolis Colts”, the Iowa Hawkeyes and his lifelong love is the New York Yankees. His very favorite musicians were Tom Petty, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Dale and his wife, Susan (Varnum) McGrew have been together for 40 years and he will be missed very much.   Dale was preceded in death by his parents: Wilma and Elbert McGrew; his sister, Janet Van Wyke and his very close brother, Gary McGrew.
