Dale Edwin Proffitt

Dale Edwin Proffitt, 87, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Harmony Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Dale will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Dale and his twin brother, Dean, were born on June 6, 1937 to Max and Mabel (Mallatt) Proffitt in Marshalltown. Dale graduated from Liscomb High School in 1957. He served in the Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962 and then served in the Army reserves for four more years. On December 26, 1965, he married Marianne Nahnsen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Iowa. They have one daughter: Leeanne Lynn. Dale was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served on the board of Elders for several years. Dale worked as a meat cutter in several grocery stores before working for Hy-Vee for thirty years, retiring in 1998.

Dale was the last of the family of three brothers: Dean (his twin), James and Robert and five sisters: Shirley Scovill, Cora Ann Fraham, Vienna Penenzich, Maxine Cooley and Hazel Rhoades. He is also preceded in death by his father whom passed away in 1947 and his mother in 1974.

Dale is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Marianne and daughter, Leeanne.
