Daniel Dan Bohlke, 76, of Marshalltown, passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Funeral services for Dan will be held at St. Henrys Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, September 29, 2014 with Father Don Czapla officiating. Visitation will be at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5:00 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 28, where family will be present to greet guests. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dan and his family. Daniel Bohlke was born on December 16, 1937, to parents, William and Mary (Schneiders) Bohlke, in Sioux County. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Granville, Iowa. Dan served his country in the National Guard and Army Reserves. On November 26, 1960, Dan married Mary Otteros at St. Johns Catholic Church in Clarion, Iowa. To this union, six children were born. Dan dedicated his career to the Rural Electric Co-operative, now known as Consumer Energy. He was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church and was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He thoroughly enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and spending time with his family. Left to cherish Dans memory are his wife of 54 years, Mary; Children: Deb (Dennis) Brezina of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Lori Vajgrt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dan (Errin) Bohlke of Marshalltown, Iowa, Connie (John) McDermott of Van Nuys, California, Mike Bohlke of Urbandale, Iowa, and Michelle (Tim) White of Des Moines, Iowa. Grandchildren: Kelli, Nick, and Alex Brezina, Brad, Blake, and Emily Vajgrt, Derek and Grant Bohlke, Laura, William and Clare McDermott, and Drew and Danielle White. Great-grandchildren: Libby and Breeann; sister, Delores Colling of Spencer, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Edmond and James; and two sisters: Margaret and Maybelle.
