Daniel (Dan) Dean Determan, 65, of Marshalltown died Monday, October 5, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dan and his family. Phone 641-844-1234. Dan was born on June 11, 1944, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to John Bernard and Gretchen (Large) Determan. He graduated from the LDF Community School in 1962. Dan married Rosemarie Connley at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 2, 1965. They lived in Marshalltown until he retired, since then they have been traveling the United States every summer with their grandsons, visiting every state except Hawaii. Dan had worked at Bruin Manufacturing and then Fishers for 28 years, retiring in 2001. He had been a lifetime member of the NRA, had belonged to the Local union UAW #893, many RV clubs, the Good Sams Club, Escapees RV Club and the Family Motor Coach Association. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting clay birds, and prairie dog hunting. He was just an all around outdoorsman, but most of all he enjoyed his grandsons. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Rosemarie; his daughters Colleen Determan of Las Vegas, and Suzie (Rick) Caldwell of Lafayette, Colorado; his grandsons Tanner and Keegan Caldwell; sister Nancy George of Erie Colorado; brothers Bill (Anna) Determan of Lake View Terrace, California, and Bob Determan of Kansas City , Kansas. Dan was preceded in death by his parents John and Gretchen Determan.
