Daniel Eugene "Dan" Vanwaardhuizen

Daniel Eugene Vanwaardhuizen, age 44, of Marshalltown, passed away on May 29th, 2024, in Ames, Iowa.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. The graveside service is also scheduled for June 12, 2024, at 12:30 P.M. at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Daniel Eugene Vanwaardhuizen was born June 3, 1979, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Melvin and Betty (Freeseman) Vanwaardhuizen. “Dan” attended Marshalltown High School and graduated with the class of 1997. He later continued his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business management. Daniel worked for Accumold in Ankeny, Iowa as a plastic fabricator for several years. Daniel’s pride and joy was his family, especially his children. Education was of upmost importance to him, and he really enjoyed playing video games with his son and going to the gym to stay fit.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children; Jewels McDaniel, Desiree Vanwaardhuizen, and Alexander Vanwaardhuizen, his two grandchildren; Dahlia Sunkle and one that is on the way, his sister Theresa Vanwaardhizen, his nephews; Anthony and Carter Levis, and his nieces; Kaeli and Peyton Levis.

Daniel is preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents and his niece Makayla Levis.
