Daniel Yordy

Daniel Yordy, 95, of Marshalltown, died Monday evening, September 26, at his home while in the care of his loving family, Bickford Cottages and Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Daniel and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on September 14, 1916, near Melbourne at home, he was the son of Fred and Florence (Stow) Yordy. He graduated from the Albion High Schools Class of 1935.On February 19, 1938, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Willetts. They farmed near Whitten most of their lives until moving to Marshalltown in 1990. Until the age of 92, Daniel still bowled two leagues a week. Left to cherish his memory is his children: Lynda (Royce) Van Cleave of Marshalltown, Anne Yordy (Chester Olszewski) of Little River, South Carolina and Daniel Yordy, Jr. (Christine Marshall) of Las Vegas, daughter-in-law Patricia Yordy, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In death, he rejoined his parents, his beloved wife Marjorie, son Roger Yordy who died in 2009, and two brothers- Dale and Fred James.
