Danny Kaye Alexander

Danny Kaye Alexander, 69, of State Center passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home. A celebration of life for Danny will be held by his family on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Rhodes Station, 114 South Main Street, Rhodes, IA 50234. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Danny and his family. Danny Alexander was born on December 6, 1946 in Merrimac, West Virginia to Fred and Lexie McCoy Alexander. Danny served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1977. He worked in sales most of his life but had retired from Iowa State University as a custodian. Danny was united in marriage to Laura Preston. Danny loved to travel, especially to Mexico, camping, drinking Coors Light and Black Velvet with Diet Coke and was an avid Iowa State Cyclones and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. He was also a descendent of the Hatfield and McCoys and the last of his thirteen siblings alive. Danny is survived by his wife Laura Preston of State Center. Children: Scott Alexander of St Petersburg, Florida and T.J. Alexander also of St Petersburg, Bobbie (Q) Toresdahl of Ames and Brian Preston of Des Moines. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cole and Kennedy Preston. Danny is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lexie, daughter Debbie and his brothers and sisters.
