Darlene Mae Bergen

Darlene Mae Bergen, 91, of Conrad and formerly of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Funeral services for Darlene will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Waterloo. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Darlene and her family. Darlene Gerdes was born on September 16, 1924 in Waterloo to Ernest and Wilma Newsome Gerdes. Darlene graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1942. On May 31, 1947, Darlene was united in marriage to Marion Paul Bergen in Waterloo where they also made their home. Darlene worked at Rath Packing Company after she was married and later, as a cashier for K Mart in Waterloo from 1967 until 1986. Darlene was a faithful wife and mother who loved the Lord. Darlene also loved going for walks, shopping, going out to eat and being with her friends. Darlene is survived by her children: Luanne Bergen of Waterloo and Kyle (Betty Anne) Bergen of Georgia. Grandchildren: Benjamin Bergen, Elizabeth (Jason) Flowers, Charlie (Maggie) Bergen and Katie (Chris) Torres. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren as well as two nieces, Lilly (Roger) Baldwin of Illinois and Linda (Rich) Wells of Indiana. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband Marion, parents Ernest and Wilma Gerdes and her brother, Wayne Gerdes.
