Shuey, 85, of Marshalltown, former longtime resident of Conrad, passed away at home on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Services for Darlene will take place on Thursday, March 24 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Berry officiating. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. Darlene will be laid to rest at Conrad Cemetery. Born Darlene Shirley Kaufmann on August 16, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Fred and Helen (O’Lear) Kaufmann. She graduated from Beaman Community School in 1954. Hardworking and dedicated, Darlene worked over 20 years at Ritchie Industries before her retirement. After meeting the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Shuey, they were united in marriage on April 8, 1979 at the Alice Church of God in Conrad. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling, especially enjoying their Alaskan cruise and their trip to Hawaii. Darlene also loved attending her grandchildren’s events, making cards and Diamond Dotz and trying new recipes. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Rick (LaRae) Hill, James (Deb) Hill, Deb (Curt) Mackie and Tammi (Mitch) Woosley; grandchildren: Kari Hill, Katie (Mike) Miller, Bradley (Lindsey) Hill, Kayla (Jeremiah) McLaughlin, Erica (Marcus) Harvey, Brian (Dana) Hill, Nick Hill, Alicia (Levi) Fryslie, Christine (Brandon) Nanke, Nick Mackie, Michelle (JR) Kennedy, April (Ryan) Zadow, Brock Woosley, Beau (Megan) Woosley and Abby Woosley; 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way; five step-children and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In eternal life, Darlene is reunited with her beloved husband, Gene; her son, Kevin Hill; her parents, Fred and Helen and her sister, Dorothy Erickson.
