Darrell Eaton

Darrell D. Eaton, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Bobby Shomo officiating. A visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00 7:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Darrell was born February 9, 1941 in Marshalltown. He was united in marriage to Nona Sisco on July 12, 1959, in Grinnell. Following their marriage they made their home in Whittier, California before returning to Marshalltown to start their petroleum equipment business. They retired in 2000.Darrell enjoyed helping young people, including being involved in starting Marshalltown Football League and later organizing a high school slow pitch league, as well as sponsoring teams over numerous years.In retirement Darrell enjoyed traveling the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as Europe and the Caribbean. His favorite places were Australia and New Zealand. He also enjoyed remodeling houses and playing golf. His very favorite thing was attending his grandchildrens functions and spending time with family Darrell is survived by his wife, Nona, of Marshalltown; his two sons, Mark (Cindy) of American Fork, Utah, and Monte (Leisha); and three grandchildren: Alex, Alivia and Owen of Marshalltown. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
