Darrell Snyder

Darrell Snyder, age 82, of Marshalltown, formerly of Garwin, passed away Tuesday, April 28th, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.   Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 4th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. A funeral is a religious event now able to be held under the Governor’s approval as of May 1st. We as a funeral home strongly encourage social distancing, wearing of masks, hand-sanitizer (provided at funeral home) and with respect, stay home if health issues are a concern. Ph. 641-844-1234.   Born on July 21st, 1937, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Dewey and Ethel (Southard) Snyder. He received his education in the area of his birth. On December 27th, 1958, he was united in marriage to Lela Johnson in Austin, MN. They made their home in Minnesota for a short time before moving back home to Garwin.   Darrell was employed for 15 years at KIOWA and later Cessford Construction. He truly enjoyed fishing, Ford Trucks, playing scat and 6 x 4 and treasured the time with his grandchildren.   Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Becky (Jeff) Bogard of Marshalltown, daughter-in-law Patsy Snyder of Albion, his grandchildren: Chad Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Gena Wolgamott, Amber Snyder, Brandant Snyder, Amanda Moeller, Ryan Snyder, Heather Snyder, Wade Snyder, Danielle Snyder, Mark Snyder, 24 great-grandchildren, siblings: Todd, Jamie, Robin and Danny, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lela, his sons Tate Snyder and Wade Snyder, grandsons Jesse Robert Snyder and Derek Snyder and his great-grandson Jesse Kincaid Snyder as well as siblings Rick and Sallee and brothers Don and Dave.
