He was raised and educated in Montour and graduated from the Montour High School in 1942. Following high school, Bud served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following the death of his father, he returned home to Montour to be with his family. In 1946 Bud was married to Dolly Adair at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bud and Dolly then returned home to rural Montour and began their lives together on the family farm. During his lifetime Bud farmed, operated heavy equipment, cut and sold wood and was a rural mail carrier. He delivered his last load of cut wood this past year. Bud had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening and filling bushel baskets full of cracked walnuts which he would give to friends and neighbors. Every year he donated several load of vegetables from his garden to friends, family and neighbors. Bud and Dolly attended Carlton Brethren Church where he would sometimes fill-in as pastor on an at-need basis when there was a vacancy. He was also a past member of Promise Keepers. Bud will be remembered as a kind and generous man who was always thinking of someone else and put their needs before his. Above all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He will be missed greatly by all who had the opportunity to know him during his lifetime.
