He graduated from the Brooklyn High School in 1959 and soon went on to college at AIB in Des Moines. While there, he met the young and beautiful Patricia “Patty” Fuller, and the two were united in marriage in 1961. The young couple made their home in Marshalltown, sharing many of the same likes including bowling and the love of 4-H and livestock. Daryl was employed for 41 faithful years at Fisher Controls until his retirement. He was a member of the UAW Local #893. He was passionate about teaching younger generations the joy of 4-H and showing cattle. He loved to go to cattle shows near and far and gained many friends all over the country. Daryl served on the Central Iowa Fair Board for many years and was a true supporter of the fair. He also liked going to the casino to play the slots and watch the Iowa Hawkeyes play. Left to treasure his life are his daughter, Jodi, of Marshalltown, his sisters-in-law: Donna (Bill) Greeley of Boone, Sandy (Ed) Spence of Marshalltown and Sue (Mick) Sharer of Marshalltown; nieces Missy (John) Sharer Pieters and Angie Nash and nephew Todd (Betty) Nash as well as many who looked up to him and called him “Grandpa D.” In death, Daryl rejoined his beloved Patricia who passed away in March of 2018, his parents, his in-laws and a nephew
