Daryle Sletten

Daryle Sletten, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went home to be with Jesus on the evening of June 7, 2024 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown.

Services for Daryle will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 beginning at 3:00 P.M. at Journey Church in Marshalltown. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Daryle’s name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Daryle Alfred Sletten was born October 5, 1936 in Platte, South Dakota. He was the oldest of nine children born to Alfred and Gladys (Johnson) Sletten. Daryle grew up in Platte, South Dakota and attended school later graduating from Platte High School in the Class of 1956. Following high school, Daryle worked for the State Engineering Department and taught school in South Dakota for a number of years.

On August 15, 1988, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Morford at the Open Bible Church in Blunt, South Dakota. They moved together to Marshalltown, Iowa, and shortly after began a family of their own raising their four children, Nathanael, Timothy, Priscilla, and Aquila. Daryle owned his own business alongside Sharon working the Lawn and Snow removal for many years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marshalltown. In his free time, he was one who enjoyed the outdoors which meant going hunting and fishing but also attending rodeos. He had many fond memories of taking his children to the races in Knoxville on the weekends and then going to the Friday night Marshalltown races. His faith was everything to him and he made sure to always love Jesus and be faithful in his prayer life. While his children were growing up, he made sure to attend every sporting event that he was able to do. He was an avid animal lover and loved his dogs.

Those who are left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Sletten; his children, Nathanael Sletten, Timothy Sletten, Priscilla Sletten, and Aquila Sletten; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Noah, and Alma Sletten; his siblings, Rolland (Toni) Sletten, Carole Backes, Frederick (Phyllis) Sletten, Daniel (Rose) Sletten, Alfred Sletten, David Sletten, James (Cindy) Sletten, and Paul (Colleen) Sletten. Alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Gladys Sletten.
