David Gray, 76, passed away peacefully at the Iowa River Hospice Home on August 11, 2026. Dave was born and raised in Marshalltown. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1968, he began working at Iowa Wholesale. He was recruited by a plumber to join that trade. He then worked as a plumber and was proud of his Master Plumber designation until he retired in 2013. He married Terry Floren in 1969. They made their home in Marshalltown where they raised their two daughters.
In his younger days he enjoyed being an active member of the Jaycees and playing 16” slow-pitch. Later he enjoyed antiquing and collecting stoneware crocks and Watt Ware. And he loved his western movies! He spent the last three winters at his Mesa, Arizona home.
He is survived by his wife, Terry, daughters Stacy Gray (Rae Lynn Schepers) and their children Isabelle and Jack, and Erin Loney and her children Luke and Grace. Also surviving are his brother Denny Gray and sister Diane Hauser, several nieces and nephews as well as three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Dorothy Gray.
The family is planning a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Dave and his family. To leave online condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
