David Bruce Gudith, 57, of Sigourney, died early Sunday morning, August 14,2011 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown while in their care and that of his loving family. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Evangelical Free Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234Born on December 19, 1953, in Phoenix, AZ, he was the son of Ray Perry and Rita Maye (Long) Gudith. David served our country honorably in the United States Army for 6 years and 6 months from 1972 to 1979, stationed in the United States and Korea. He had resided in Arizona and later, Sigourney, Iowa, where he was employed at the Bender Foundry for 14 years as a machine operator. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and the North American Fishing Club, North American Flute Association and the United States Concealed Carry Association. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting guns and Native American Flutes. He will be remembered for bicycling everywhere he went thru rain, sleet and snow.Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Rita Maye Gudith of Marshalltown, siblings: Leslie (Jo) Gudith of Graham, Washington, Ray (Donna) Gudith, Jr. of What Cheer, Iowa, Randy (Julia) Gudith of Daleville, Alabama and Daniel (Julie) Gudith of Laurel, Iowa, his daughter Connie Ireland and three grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and friends.In death, he rejoined his father Ray, his grandparents, twin brother and a sister both in infancy.
