David Kriegel

David Kriegel,63, of Laurel, Iowa, passed away on the morning of November 4, 2022 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Graceland Cemetery in Laurel. Memorials in David’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. David George was born on February 13, 1959 to parents William and Roberta (Pfiffner) Kriegel in Grinnell, Iowa. He was the middle of 13 children born to the family. David attended school in Brooklyn, Iowa and later graduated from BGM High School in 1977. Following high school, David attended Marshalltown Community College for Tool and Die.

On March 15, 2003, David was united in marriage to the love of his life Chelle Stull in Le Grand, Iowa. By this union, he gained two daughters. He worked for many years in Newton, Iowa for Cline Tool and Die as a tool maker. He was a member of the Brooklyn Catholic Church and the Izaak Walton League of Marshalltown.

In his free time, David enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing, going to shooting tournaments, collecting guns, watching John Wayne western films, watching college football, listening to talk radio shows, and playing Yahtzee.

He is survived by his wife Chelle; his children, Heather (Tony) Ellingson and Jane Thede; his grandchildren, Jordyn (Jacoby) Silvey, Abigail Buffalo, and Zoee Buffalo; great-grandchildren Oliver and Maximilian Silvey; his siblings Francis (Marilyn) Kriegel, Jane (Mike) Glasford, Ray Kriegel, Liz (Chuck) Cretin, Ted (Tammy) Kriegel, Margaret (Darrell) Carlton, Dorothy (Nathan) Allen, Aggie (James) Crabtree, and Theresa (Tom) Goeke; his furry four legged companion Thomas; alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Zachariah Buffalo; his parents William and Roberta Kriegel; his siblings, Joanne (Gary) Phillips, Tom Kriegel and Vincent Kriegel; his sister-in-law Diane Kriegel; mother and father-in-law James and Marilyn Stull; and numerous cousins.
