David Lee Mason

David Lee Mason, 68, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Per the wishes of David and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will take place on Friday, November 17 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Jech officiating. David was born on September 14, 1955, in Amarillo, Texas. He was the son of Daryl and Janet (Morrison) Mason. David shared the last 30 years with the love of his life, Kelly Mason. He was a dedicated truck driver and for many years enjoyed camping, wood working, fishing, and sailing. He loved to farm with his grandparents in his youth and was excited to own and operate Appleberry Farm with his wife. He wasn’t afraid of being goofy with his “dad jokes” and enjoyed giving people a hard time. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and spending time with his pets, who were like therapy for him.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Kelly; his children: Lisa (David) Fogt, Lacy (RJ) Gilliland, Jaymi (Blake) Barnhart, Josh (Josie) Mason, James Mason (Kennedy Carlon), Jack Mason (Xanyra Tapia Gonzalez) and bonus daughter Jenny; grandchildren: Alex, Andrew, Taylor, Billy, Jocee, Harper, Leela, Theo, Freya, Richard, Tyler, Ryan, Lynde, Jazmine, Kyla and Alyssa; four great-grandkids and one on the way; his brother, Joel Mason and his beloved pets: Grace, Duke and Bruno.

David is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rick Mason, uncle Lonnie “Skip” Morrison, brother-in-law Phil Wedgwood, father-in-law Michael Reed and pets Bear and Chico.
