Care for David and his family have been entrusted to the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. David Robert was born December 9, 1956 in Storm Lake, Iowa to parents Robert and Audrey (Espeset) Loveland. His family joked about him having multiple names and often referred to him as “David Gus Robert George Henry Pete John Loveland,” especially when he was in trouble. David graduated from West Marshall High School in 1975 and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army from 1975 to 1979. He was united in marriage to Kathryn “Kathy” Levings in 1992 in Melbourne, together bringing their only daughter to the world. Though they eventually parted ways, Kathy and David have remained lifelong close friends. David was a hard worker, having just retired in 2020 as a machinist from Emerson – Fisher Controls. He was the “quintessential bachelor” who enjoyed woodworking and spending his time outdoors, especially hunting or fishing. He was a music fanatic and also enjoyed watching movies. David was a loving, compassionate man who would do anything for anyone, no matter what. He had a seemingly rough exterior but a very soft heart. He was always there for everything, including the birth of both of his grandsons, whom he adored. David loved his family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with them. He will fondly be remembered for being ornery and often saying “if I tease you it means I love you.” Left to remember and cherish his memory are his daughter, Kayla (Eric) McGehee; his grandsons: Carter Hutchison and Damian McGehee; his siblings: Jim (Carmen) Loveland, Steve (Cindy) Loveland, Margaret (Danny) Wolfe, and Beth (Dan) Smith; alongside numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his close and trusted companion, Kathy Levings. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Audrey Loveland; and his brother Ken (Sharon) Loveland.
