David Lee Tychsen 71, of Marshalltown Iowa passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of April 5th 2025 at Northcrest Nursing Home in Waterloo Iowa.
David was born on September 30th 1953 in Marshalltown Iowa to Ted Norman Tychsen Sr. and Betty June (Tychsen) Pulver, the youngest of 2 children. David graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1972 and went on to attend college at MCC to be an auto mechanic / machinist.
David was united in marriage to Debra Kay (Klocksiem) Tychsen in 1977 and had two daughters Alissa Ann Tychsen and Vanessa Lee Tychsen. They later divorced in 1991.
David went on to marry the love of his life Susan Corrine (Hadsall) Tychsen October 25th 1991. They lived in several towns over the years before settling back in Tama Iowa.
David worked for Clemons as a mechanic, at Kiowa Corporation, then retired from John Deere in 2016.
David loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid cook, with his favorite room in the house being the kitchen. He would always be watching a cooking show. If not, you could catch him watching COPS or any sort of hunting or fishing show. He loved to hang out with family and loved eating good food. He had many hobbies over the years such as riding his roping horse Bud, scuba diving (in his younger years), camping, making fly fishing lures, gardening, guns, cooking, Archery and riding his Harley. He had a love of woodworking which he got from his father. He loved to antagonize family and stir up trouble. He was a bit cantankerous. He could always be counted on to help out in any way with his vast knowledge of so many things.
Left to remember him are his brother Ted Norman Tychsen Jr., his daughters Alissa Tychsen and Vanessa Tychsen, his nephew Brian Tychsen and family, his step daughter Jody Arment and step son Andrew Arment. His grandkids Dakota Ehrhardt, Terren Ehrhardt, Xavier Leedom, Bristol Baker, Izaiah Warnell, Ava Jongma and Axton Jongma, along with many more friends and family.
David was preceded in death by his mother Betty Tychsen in 2004, his wife Susie Tychsen in 2013, and his father Ted Tychsen Sr. in 2020.
Cremation rites have been carried out in accordance with Dave's wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, all memorials may be directed to Mitchell family funeral to help pay for a joint headstone for Dave and the love of his life Susie. Finally at peace together.
