David William Whaley

David William Whaley, age 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024, starting at 10:30 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. David Whaley was born December 10, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Wanda (Cripps) Whaley. David attended school in Marshalltown and graduated with the class of 1959. On September 4, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda (Moler) Whaley at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Marshalltown. David worked at Fisher Controls as a draftsman for the majority of his working career. He enjoyed golfing, anything and everything Iowa Hawkeyes, spending time coaching youth football and basketball, snowmobiling, Corvettes and being a starter at Harvester Golf Club after his retirement. Most importantly he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, his son Chad (Amanda) Whaley of West Branch, Iowa., his grandchildren: Lauren Whaley, Matthew Whaley, and Adisyn Whaley, and his sister, Alice Grabenbauer of Marshalltown.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents: Clarence and Wanda, and his son Brian Whaley.
