Dawn Pies, 53 of Legrand, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dawn Marie Pies was born on October 10th, 1960, in Burbank, California, the daughter of Robert Daniel Pies and Louise Elizabeth Strong (Norman). She received her education in the area of her birth. At the time of her passing, Dawn was working at the Get and Go at Center and Iowa Avenue in Marshalltown. She enjoyed motorcycling, camping and times with friends. Dawn was blessed with Terry Short in her life and the two made their home in LeGrand, Terrys children: Terry Jr., Addy, and Skyler Short Amber Bryson and Angeline Blair. She also is survived by her son, Roman Wisniewski of Nampa, Idaho and her siblings: W. John Mortensen, Janet Yamaguchi, Michael Richards, Jeannette I. Silva, Jimi Crawford and Janice Kolb as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was looking forward to her first grandchild in July. In death, Dawn rejoined her dog, Buster, grandparents, Margaret Norman, Jack Norman and mother, Louise Strong as well as her sister Marian Davidson.
